Tipping in the UK

Travelling tips

Tipping in the UK doesn’t quite work the same way as it does in the United States, for example. It is actually quite similar to how tipping in Belgium or other European countries works.

It is not required to tip a taxi, but it is a nice gesture to round up to the nearest pound on the meter. It is also more convenient and will get you out of the car quicker.

Fast food

Cafe or restaurants

If a waiter or waitress brings your drinks, it is advised to tip them 10% if the service has been good. If you are unhappy with the service, you shouldn’t leave a tip.
